I've Been Posting for Two Weeks...

...and I've only received one comment from someone other than "Dave," who is a bud. Maybe blogs have exceeded the saturation point.

If anyone else besides Dave and (Magnum PI) has read any of these and would like me to continue, please post a comment (libs need not bother with vitriol).

Thanks,
R

Keep it up if you enjoy it, and traffic will follow. If you don't enjoy it, don't do it. If you only enjoy it if you get traffic, either give it up or come up with a gimmick that generates lot of traffic.

I blogged because I enjoyed it -- only a few friends read my blog for months and months. Eventually, though, Joe Katzman of Winds of Change tracked one of my comments back and put up a very favorable post about the work I'd done on a number of topics. Still, persistent traffic only comes with time. I got my first link from Instapundit after a year of blogging (in Dec 2004) and have had more than 20 since. Even so, only in the last few months have I consistently been linked by relatively high traffic sites without me having to call their attention to the post. Point is, it takes time to build an audience, so you should only do it if you enjoy writing blog posts for their own sake.

And post something every day, so the people who do follow you will have a reason to come back every day.

Might I add that I thought your reference to the NYT as the "Grey Bitch" was hilarious.

If you blog it, they will....uh...whatever it is they will do - post, read, or think.

But they'll do it.
